We realized about the parent’s concerns about the abacus program, so we have merged up all the possible questions with their answers here in the FAQ section, these will help the parents to understand better about the Abacus training program.

1. What is abacus?
Abacus is a tool used for calculation purposes. It is made using frames consisting of two decks, an upper and a lower deck.
2. What are the Fundamental strategies of Abacus?
These days, Abacus is used as a brain development tool. The fundamental strategies of abacus include the usage of both the hands and the utilization of the various functions of the brain.
3. What is the distinction between a Chinese abacus and a Japanese abacus?
Chinese abacus, Suanpan consists of 2 and 5 beads in the upper and lower deck respectively on which the calculations are performed. Japanese abacus, Soroban consists of 1 and 4 beads in the upper and lower deck respectively, which is popularly used today, because of its simplified structure.
4. How can this abacus training program help for the development of my child?
Abacus training ensures proper brain development of a child in a playful way. It enhances its arithmetic and numerical abilities. It also adds to the confidence of the child by evolving skills like listening, concentration, logical reasoning, photographic memory and initiates the memorizing power within them.
5. How is SIS different from the other Abacus training institutions?

Children between the ages group of 4 to 14 are eligible to join the course.
7. What is the duration of the entire course?
There are in total 10 levels (8 basic + 2 advance levels) and the duration of each level is 3 months which makes the total duration of the course to be 2 and a half years.
8. How many classes are conducted per month?
4 classes are conducted per month. The classes are conducted once in a week (generally on the weekends) which is of 2 hours each.
9. Why don't you conduct classes for the entire week and complete all the levels in a shorter span?
Abacus needs regular practice and each child needs half an hour practice for 6 days to be prepared for the next class. This way they don’t get overburdened.
10. Does your academy conduct National, as well as Stated level Competitions?
Yes, we do conduct Regional, National as well as Stated level Competitions in an online mode.
11. How does a child learn playfully?
In this training program, a child playfully learns abacus. We have tried to make this program interesting by incorporating various games in the study material. Participation in the classrooms and online games helps them to learn with a feeling of joyfulness and this way they develop creativeness within them.
12. The kids of my relatives quitted the same course because they found it to be boring. What if my child feels the same?
Mostly students get bored with the tedious schedule of 2 and a half year-long classes. But, we have tried to incorporate a method which includes learning with Creativity that helps to develop the child’s psychological power, even our participative class conduction method keeps the atmosphere competitive and allows the students to earn points for each of their great performance. They are awarded special point cards that are redeemable with toys of their choice at the end of each level.
13. How can my child receive personal attention amongst all the other students?
Our intake capacity is 15-18 students in a single class. Therefore, it is easy for the teacher to pay attention to every child. Also, our group of mentors regularly keeps on providing updates to the parents regarding their child’s progress.
14. Are the fees charged for the entire course affordable?
The fee for the entire course is structured in such a way that even middle-class people can afford it easily. The benefits received after successful completion of the abacus program is incomparable to the fees charged.
15. How can I help my child regarding this course, when I know nothing about the same?
The study material that is provided also consists of a parent’s guidebook through which they can guide the children at home.
16. Can the Abacus training be retained by my child for a lifetime?
Abacus training is all about practice. So a child needs to practice regularly what is taught in the training program, then only he/she can make the use of the training in the future too.
